Opportunities for Actor Training Program Students

Salt Lake Acting Company (SLAC)

SLAC’s University Professional Theatre Program (UPTP) was created to establish a paid internship for students studying all facets of theatre to gain professional work experience. The UPTP is rooted in SLAC’s mission to nurture and develop a community of local professional theatre artists. This program fills the void between theory and practice across the artistic and skills-based curriculum. It also serves as a stimulant for the arts community, preparing students for professional theatre work and giving them vital experience to add to their resume, putting them ahead of other students who are graduating without such internships.

Pioneer Theatre Company

The Actor Training Program enjoys a close relationship with the Pioneer Theatre Company. Each year, selected students are chosen by Karen Azenberg (PTC Artistic Director) in collaboration with faculty from the ATP to serve as official apprentices in their professional season.  This partnership allows the students to work alongside industry professionals at one of the nation’s most respected regional theaters as they prepare for professional careers as actors.
