Nicholas Dunn

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Nicholas Dunn is an actor, writer, teacher and filmmaker in Salt Lake City. As an actor, he has appeared on stage at Pioneer Theatre Company (Othello, Romeo & Juliet, 42nd Street), the Old Lyric Rep Company (Amadeus, Big River, Private Lives, Mousetrap, Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged), The Grand Theatre (Inherit the Wind, Noises Off, The 39 Steps), the Simon Festival (Come Blow Your Horn), Wasatch Theatre Company (W;t, Dinner), and Pinnacle Acting Company (The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Mauritius), and on film with Magnolia Pictures, Hallmark, the WB, KUED, and a number of commercials and industrials.

As a writer, his work has been seen at Kingsbury Hall; the Babcock Theatre; the Unicorn Theatre in Logan, Utah; the Rio Theater in Helper, Utah; Wasatch Theatre Company; the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; the Canadian Plaything; Riot Act Theatre in Jackson Hole, WY; the Pittsburgh Playhouse; the Fear No Film Festival; and on HBO. He is the winner of the 2020 Risk Theatre Modern Tragedy Competition and the Marius P. Hanford Prize for playwriting. Nicholas is also an owner of Overcranked Pictures LLC, where he has written, shot, and/or directed a number of films, commercials, industrials, and music videos. 

Nicholas holds an associate's degree in Theatre Studies from Utah State Eastern, a BFA in acting from the University of Utah, and an MFA in playwriting and screenwriting at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. He is a graduate of the SLFS Screenwriter’s program, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild as well as the Screen Actors Guild.
