Music Director
Trevor Jex began his time at the University of Utah in 2016 as a collaborative pianist and has since established himself as an integral part of the Musical Theater Department as a Music Director, Conductor, and Vocal Coach. Alongside David Eggers, Trevor assisted in the development of the Senior Showcase for UofU’s MTP.
Some of his favorite credits include Cabaret, Xanadu, Nine, Songs for a New World, Chess, Bring it On, Spring Awakening, and more. In 2024, Trevor was involved in the production of a new work – Fate? (The Grand Theater) – as an Arranger, Orchestrater and Music Director.
Aside from his musical theater experience, Trevor is also an active member of the live music scene in Salt Lake City, proficient in a wide variety of genres encompassing Pop/ Rock, Jazz, R&B, Country, and Classical. From Carnegie Hall, cruise ships, dive bars, five-star resorts, and jazz clubs, Trevor has shared stages across the globe with award winning artists such as Bradford Marsalis, Demi Lovato, Victor Wooten, Eric Marienthal, Randy Brecker, and more.
Education in Jazz and Classical piano includes training from Philip Kuehn, Melanie Shore and Carl Allen at Snow College in partnership with Juilliard; Susan Duelmeier and Russell Schmidt at the University of Utah; and Music Director coaching from Alex Marshall.
