  • Content Advisory

Urinetown contains adult language, themes, and depictions of violence. It is recommended for ages 13 and up. Parental discretion is advised.

    Content Advisory

The production contains: thematic elements of oppression, class struggle, and environmental collapse, stylized violence and death (including executions and depictions of police brutality), some mature language and toilet humor consistent with the show’s satire, and moments of loud sound and flashing lights. Recommended for ages 10 and up. Viewer discretion and a strong bladder advised.

    Content Warnings

This production of Urinetown contains dark humor, mild language, satirical depictions of violence, and themes of corruption, poverty, and social inequality.

Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself!

DIGITAL PROGRAM

Urinetown is a smartly written musical comedy that cleverly uses references to musical theatre classics to make us consider the ridiculousness of power and greed, the establishment, the anti-establishment, politics, capitalism, and rebellion, all while laughing. The grim realities of water scarcity is part of everyday life in some parts of the world right now, and as we look globally at environmental issues, and locally at the state of the great Salt Lake, it’s not hard to imagine the farfetched circumstances of Urinetown being closer than they were when the show opened on Broadway in 2001.

URINETOWN was produced on Broadway in September, 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheaterDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell.
