The University of Utah's Babcock Theatre invites you to the
35th Classical Greek Theatre Festival which presents the Greek tragedy,
IPHIGENIA AT AULIS, by Euripides. Performances are at 9 in the morning,
two weekends,
September 17th - 18th & 24th - 25th,
and will be held outside the west entrance of the Pioneer
Memorial Theatre on the campus of the University of Utah.
IPHIGENIA AT AULIS is Euripides' compelling story of King Agamemnon who is
torn between his love of family and his commitment to war. Deceiving his
wife and daughter, he implores them to come to Aulis with his promise of
Iphigenia's marriage to Achilles, when, in reality, she will be slain by
her father in the interest of the upcoming Trojan War. This is a timely
story of personal versus political sacrifice.
Bring a blanket for these traditional outdoor morning performances. The
pre-performance lecture by the Festival's founder will begin at 8:30 AM.
In the event of rain, the performances will be at the Libby Gardner Hall
at President's Circle. For tickets call Kingsbury Hall at 581-7100. See you
there!
