Larry West
Directing

Larry West is a teacher, director and
playwright. Currently on the faculty at the University of Utah, he
teaches courses in directing, acting, and dramatic literature. He has
also taught and directed at Weber State University, Texas Woman’s
University, Boise State University, International College--Ulaanbaarar,
Mongolia
and Wabash College in Indiana. He has directed over
100 university and professional productions in Utah, Idaho, Oregon,
Minnesota, Texas, North Carolina, Indiana and Pennsylvania. Most recent
productions for the University of Utah’s Department of Theatre are
Urinetown, Angels in America—Millenium Approaches and
Perestroika. Additional university productions include, Iphigenia
at Aulis (Classical Greek Theatre Festival), Street Scene
and Don Giovanni (Lyric Opera), Henry V (Salt Lake
Shakespeare). In 2007, Larry is directing Mozart Alive! (Utah
Symphony), Rounding Third (Salt Lake Acting Company), and Gianni
Schicchi (Lyric Opera).
A champion of new plays and emerging
playwrights, Larry is actively involved in the Sundance Theatre Lab. He
holds a Bachelor’s degree from Weber State University and a Master of Fine
Arts degree in Directing from the University of Oregon.
