The University of Utah Department of Theatre presents The Busybody by Susanna Centlivre in the Babcock Theatre, April 4-8 and 12-15.  This forgotten treasure of English theatre, written in 1709, was an audience favorite for nearly 150 years.  This play has all the right elements for an evening of comedy dressed in fabulous Restoration style—two beautiful, intelligent young women, two ardent young suitors, two guardians determined to keep the men and women apart, two sly servants, and one busybody whose interference nearly ruins all their plots.  Showtimes are 7:30 pm Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 pm on Sunday, and a matinee at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 14th.  Tickets are $12 general admission, $6 for students, and can be purchased through Kingbsury Ticket Office (581-7100 or www.kingtix.com).

A favorite of critics and audiences for centuries, written by arguably the greatest female playwright of her time. A 1709 London recipe for delightful comedic disaster: two young women of “marriageable age”; two interested young men; two parents determined to keep the men far away from the young women; two servants with cunning plans; and, of course, one busybody.
